The Selkie Prince

A book by Sandra Rose Hughes

Fantasy · Finishing Up · Weekly release

Identical twin Chrissy Sinclair sometimes wishes she had been born alone...just like everyone else. Her twin sister Julie is gorgeous, organized, a straight-A student, and popular... everything Chrissy is not.

When the twins find a portal on a school field trip and are transported to the magical Islands of Orcadia, they are plunged into an ages-long battle between the peaceful selkies of Salhadun and the eel-like Longfins. On their quest, the twins are separated by a terrible storm, and somehow Chrissy must find the missing selkie prince, protect Salhadun, find Julie, get them both home and discover her purpose.

Can the twins mend their fractured relationship and find the selkie prince?

Readers can expect some mild violence and peril, twin relationship dynamics, middle-school-level romance, an underwater city, an underground city, and shapeshifting. Loads of shapeshifting.

34 chapters available to read.

Sandra Rose Hughes

I am a stay-at-home-mom to 5 beautiful creations of God and two surly cats. I write poetry, short stories, children's sermons, and middle grade fantasy fiction.

I live on a 13 acre property in California, complete with wildflowers, fruit trees and rugged rocks, but I dream of the Orkney Islands, and hope for the day when I will have adventures there with my twin sister, who is still my best friend.

I love to read everything from C.S.Lewis to Charlotte Bronte, to anything about dragons or selkies!

An imaginative and exciting middle-grade adventure! Hughes has brought the world of the selkfolk to life with realistic details and a relatable human heroine (who is so very tired of being a twin, and the less capable one at that).
