A book by Christine Jones

Drama · Work in Progress · Weekly release

Death/Grief Suicide

How do you find a reason to get up the day after your mom kills herself? 17-year-old Lauren Adams is on her way out of state to live with her grandmother before anyone can answer that question. Lauren shows up in rural Missouri with a bag of art supplies and a lot of resentment. Her odd aunt and the high school gossip squad make her doubt that she fits in anywhere. To top it off, someone steals Lauren’s masterpiece entry in an art show.

But a gritty teacher, a fellow misfit classmate, and a quirky next-door neighbor refuse to let Lauren sit alone at zero point. With their help, Lauren discovers a place to belong in her new world.

I feel for Lauren from the very start, and I am curious about the people she will encounter on her journey.
